Name: Abby Campos Position: ASB administrative coordinator Date: 10/2/20 Position assessment: At the end of June I had to make a poster for the first day of school. On this poster, I would write our leadership core principles just as a reminder of what we need to follow. The first one being “connection is key” then “fail forward” followed by “Dare to Lead” and lastly “ Be accepting to change”. Then at the beginning of August, I talked to the Administrative assistants. We were supposed to have a zoom meeting together along with Morty, Morty was busy and couldn't but the rest of us we still talked. Our conversation was the majority of the things we can do to fundraise for school. I brought these ideas up with Morty but we couldn't do some of them for different reasons. Overall we just thought about fundraising with a local business. We still haven’t talked much about this since earlier this month but we definitely need to bring it up again. I've taken I believe three-minute notes. The first time I was not sure if I was doing them right. I was supposed to work with Kate at the end of last year to see how to do it but couldn’t but she sent me an outline so that was helpful. Along with the other Sophomore we came up with a fall fest theme and have been discussing different ideas we can do. Professional development: With COVID I and I’m pretty sure many others have been learning about not stressing when things don't go as planned. This school year, especially being a leadership student has been hard. All of the regular activities and events were canceled and we had to come up with a different plan. At first, I was extremely nervous not knowing what was to come but after talking about the fall fest those nerves went away. Although the Fall fest doesn’t have the football games or floats we are still making it work. Things won’t always go the way you want them to but you can always work around the problem and make the best of a situation. Concern/change: One concern I have is actually about the fall fest. I am worried students will not want to participate. Like in dress-up days, we already did not get as much participation during dress-up days when we were at school. I wonder if fewer people will participate now. I think maybe in the first period teachers should write down which students participated and those students would be put into a raffle and whosoever name gets picked gets a prize of some sort. Positive comments: Although I am not an officer I still notice what Mackenzie does. Especially when coming up with fall fest ideas and t-shirts. She is constantly texting in our group chat making sure everyone agrees with the ideas being said or if anyone has anything to add. She makes sure to include all of us and to write down our thoughts. She is on top of t-shirts and is making sure that goes well. Whenever I have questions about anything about leadership I know I can come to her and she'll help as soon as she can, usually right away. My impact: I am already a pretty introverted person, so even when we were at school taking lead was something I needed to work on. Now with COVID and being at home, It’s a lot harder but I think I'm doing alright. I look to see if helps is needed anywhere and never hesitate to volunteer. Some freshmen have talked to me. I know I was nervous coming into high school especially with leadership and I can’t imagine how they must feel not being able to really go to school. So I’m trying to help them adjust to all of it, while at the same time me learning too because this is new to everyone. I really hope the talking to me has helped them and that they know they can always come to me for help.

Name: Abby Campos Positon: ASB administrative coordinator Date: December 3, 2020 Position Assessment: Leadership planned the fall fest event. Overall I think it went well for being our first event this year. Each class had to decorate a door and a truck for the drive-by. They would be decorated based on our theme, the sophomoretheme was pink out. I also dressed up all week. The next big event leadership planned was dude be nice. Every student from our class made Perez a card. It could be a dad joke or sentimental. I chose a dad joke card. We also went in the morning to sign a Patel for him and then we all got in line for the big reveal. I also put in emails for snap raise to help donate. For our evolve challenge we made an Instagram photo chain where we add a picture and reason as to why Ripon high is unique and then tag 3 other people to do the same. More recently for the first day of school Asb went earlier to school to blow up balloons to put up at the front of the school. I also had a freshmen buddy. I showed her around the school and took her to her classes. I also gave her my number in case she ever needed anything she can contact me. It was a great experience. Professional Development: We had a public speaking discussion in class. We learned the proper attire to wear during a speech/presentation. The importance of body language and tone etc. This discussion will help for future presentation/speech or even during a job interview. Having a freshmen buddy was a great experience for me. It was also a way for me to get out of my comfort zone and meet someone new. Hopefully, in the future, this experience will help me to make better connections with others. I also now realize how doing small acts like this can actually make a difference and I'll do it more often. We started school again and I was extremely stressed out about it but by the end of the day, I was fine. Seeing so many people after so much time has passed, meeting new people, and the risk of catching covid made everything so much more terrifying but now that I got my first day over with it made me realize sometimes things aren't as scary as they seem. It was just another reminder that change is not always such a bad thing and to try not to overthink things. Concern/Change: My biggest concern is returning to school. I still believe it is putting many at risk. Especially older teachers and staff who are at even higher risk. Although we are being very cautious it's still not 100% effective. Numbers are going up, and we are back to purple. It is nice to finally be back but it is still concerning Positive comment: planning events this year is difficult. Niki, Gracie, and Kate (ASB) are constantly talking about new ideas. They never hesitate to volunteer when help is needed. They have been working closely with Morty and I think they are just doing a great job considering the circumstances we are in. This year has been a lot different and yet they still are doing their jobs as if everything is normal and just trying their best to think positive about this situation. Impact: Not only did having a buddy help me but I hope it also helped her. I hope it calms her nerves down knowing that she had someone to walk her to her classes so she wouldn't get lost, or even just someone to go to lunch with so she wouldn't be alone. I remember my first day of freshman year. I was stressed and even this year but if I had someone showing me around I would have appreciated it.
