Abby Campos Asb administrative coordinator September 1, 2022 Position assessment : For the back-to-school dance the class helped set up for the dance. I helped put up the black lights and set up the curtains. For cleaning up I swept and helped with the water bottles. The month of August is always busy when it comes to paperwork. I had to spend extra time catching up on paperwork from the summer. It took about an hour to get through all of it. I've been meeting with Davina every other day to sign the paperwork. I've done the pros of cons list for the black light rally, club rush, back-to-school dance, and club rush showcase. I also took minutes on the budget transfers and change/update of the constitution. After deciding core principles I made a poster of the principles on canva. It's just a reminder of what every leadership student should be following. Before school began I made a master contact list with the names, numbers, emails, and birthdays of every student part of the program. I also helped sell back-to-school dance tickets Wednesday and Friday.
Standing committee: For August I was not part of a Standing committee
Special committee: I was part of the gym decoration committee for the rally. We were excused from 4th and spent the entire period preparing, putting up posters, and covering windows. We also fixed the balloon arch and set up the black lights. Afterward, we stayed to take everything down and clean up the trash left behind.
Mentorship Evaluation - I love Love Love Gabby. We get along so well. We help each other with anything. Especially when it came to our websites we helped build them and pick a theme. We Haven't had the opportunity to get lunch due to both of our busy schedules but we talk outside of school. We are thinking of getting Isabel's or coffee house sometime next week.
Concerns: My biggest concern at the moment is for homecoming. Although all of the events were successful, a couple of communication and paperwork issues have risen and I hope that does not continue into this event. I also hope everyone gets along during that long and stressful week.
Positive Comment: I love the environment in this leadership class already. Everyone gets along well. It feels as if we have already spent the entire year together as we are so comfortable with each other. We have made planning events enjoyable and successful.
One Change: Though I do love the fact we all get along sometimes we get a little distracted talking and don't get the job done as fast as it should. We need to keep our priorities straight. We can bond while still getting everything that has to get done, done. We also need to get more organized and communicate better with each other.
My Impact: My younger sister is an incoming freshman so in August I spent a lot of the time helping her and her friends adapt to the high school environment. I helped them during pow wow, the first day of school, and showed them around their classes. I've also tried getting to know the new kids at the school by just being welcoming and friendly.
SepteMBER ASB Report
Abby Campos ASB Administrative coordinator October 17, 2022
Position Assessment : These last few weeks I've been trying to visit Davina daily. Especially with it being homecoming month I had to make sure everything was being signed in time. I've taken minutes and pros and cons for various events. I also helped officers or even balloon crew wherever it was needed. I helped with the float and for a bit during window decorations and gym decoration. I helped the balloon crew make the balloon arch for the candidate reveal rally. I was also part of the lip sync. I was involved in the decoration and coronation committee which I will discuss more in the special committee. We also had a superintendent meeting where we talked about what Ripon High has been up to and also learned about other schools.
Standing Commitee: I was not officially part of a standing committee but I did help the balloon crew.
Special Committee : I was part of the decoration and coronation committee. For the coronation, we had various meetings in the morning to discuss what had to get done. We also made the disk for the reveal. We helped during the rally and powderpuff with the revel. I specifically was given the job to hand Mrs.Ulrich the queen sash. For decoration, we decorated the field during powderpuff and cleaned up at the hoco game. We also decorated the golf cart.
Mentorship Evaluation : Gaby’s is my favorite. We get along so well. She is like a little sister. She understands me so well and I love talking to her. We took a picture together almost every day during homecoming. We have been helping each other with both leadership and personal issues. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to be gaby's mentor.
Concerns: One concern that I have is just the issues between class officers. I think even issues between one class can affect the program as a whole. It's just something we should try working on. Also, students not communicating well about what is and isn't getting done.
Positive comment: We got through homecoming which I would say is the most difficult and stressful event yet. Though it was obvious the student body truly enjoyed homecoming, we had a lot of spirit and many participated. The days we had planned and each event was successful. Also not trying to be bias but the seniors did incredible.
One change: I wouldn’t say this is a change but something that can be added is a day when elders can help younger kids with their events or ask questions about things they are confused about. That way it makes their event run smoother with fewer complications.
My impact: With it being homecoming, my position itself doesn't have much to do but I still tried my best to help. I asked anyone if they needed help with anything and signed up for the committees. I just tried taking some stress and being a helping hand to others who had a lot to get done. I'm hoping I made a difference by doing so, though I did enjoy spending time with other students and bonded.
November Asb Report
Abby Campos ASB administrative Coordinator November 14, 2022 Position Assessment: Like every month I have to work with Davina to sign and catch up on paperwork. These last few weeks I've signed a lot for dude be nice and Winterfest. Also, Davina has asked that we add pictures to every PO paper. I went to a NATSUCO zoom meeting where I learned about the new application process and the idea for events we will include in the application. Also for NAtsuco I filmed a video during dude be nice to send it to them. I also helped translate what was said in the gratitude video into Spanish so we can add subtitles. I worked on personal assignments like thank you cards and portfolio pages. I also worked with my group on casl, our group had everything done in a week to get to edit it. I also helped during my free periods to cut out posters for bleachers. I also took minutes for a few different mini-meetings. Standing committee: I was not part of a standing committee this month Special committee: I helped with natsuco by assisting the zoom, coming up with events, and filming the video. For casl, we all split up the work and we both got two parts and then came together to fix it up. Mentor-ship: Gabby and I get along really well and we like spending time together both inside and outside of class. We come to each other when we need someone to talk to or simply because we enjoy each other company. We are both in girls league so there we have the opportunity to talk and get lunch but we have planned to get lunch on other days too
Concerns: Door decorating is a concern currently due to how it was executed last year. I know we started the process early last ear but now we are going into break and the week we come is the only week we have to organize wrapping paper. I just hope we don't get as frustrated and that it is executed well. Change: Not necessarily a change but just something I wish toad are the work days but with agenda of what has to get done. I feel like when we know what has to be done and when it is due it's easier to stay on top of things. It also takes away the stress of finding our own time to get these things done when we have other things to worry about. I Positive comment: Continuing my comment on the work days would be my positive comment. Everyone has been working well during these work days and I truly have seen people getting things done. I know there was one day when I wasn't there so not sure what happened some were messing around but as soon as you commented everyone got back on task. I think sometimes we just need that reminder but for the most part work days were successful. My impact: I have tried finishing up my work and assignments as quickly as possible. That way I can also help others with their tasks. Such as the balloon crew or April with the posters. I participated in as many clubs to be involved in more ways than just with leadership. I’m also showing crazy school spirit and encouraging others to do the same. As a legacy, I hope to be a good role model to not only those in leadership but outside of the program. Representing this program as best as possible.
December asb report
Abby Campos ASB Administrative coordinator December 15, 2022
Positions: I was the group leader for door decorations. Which I will talk about in the Special committee section. We talked about it at the last meeting but we had a zoom meeting for that natsuco application to learn information for it. Then Morty finished and uploaded the application, ASB then took a day to present it to Mr. Rangle. For the advisory door and Christmas tree rubric we first came up with the requirements and then described them clearly. Then a spreadsheet was made for each teacher or club participating so scores can be inserted. We had a meeting with esports to discuss the rally and to ensure that everything would run smoothly the day of. Then at 6 on the day of the rally they came in early to set up. I contacted them to remind them and everything worked out the way we wanted it to. Like always I have been working with Davina to sign paperwork. This month has been a little slower with the paperwork since there has not been a huge event. I also helped the freshen a bit with warm and fuzzy we had a meeting talking about the overall event. We discussed dress up days and events that we will continue doing throughout warm and fuzzy. I also helped serve hot chocolate for a few minutes. We helped clean up after the night rally. After the Winter formal dance the entire leadership class helped clean. We swept, mopped and put the tables and chair outs.
Standing: I was not part of a standing committee this month
Special: For door decoration we first took one of our work days to measure the doors. On another work day we cut them out to the correct size. We then decorated our bows and turned them into Makenzie. The day we worked on cutting doors and handles. I would say it was a success
Mentorship: During this semester Gaby and I have gotten really close. We enjoy eachothers company and have developed a strong friendship. Her way of thinking is in many ways similar to mine which is one of the many reasons we get along so well. She has heard many of my rants and I have heard many of hers. Listening to one another and giving advice. We also have gone to sport games together and decided to meet up together for study buddy night.
Concerns: My concern currently is being able to take on leadership roles and events while trying to maintain good grades in my other classes ( which I feel many can relate to). Finals are coming up and my grades are not where I want them to be. I really need to focus on my school work next semester so i don’t have to worry about it like i am right during finals.
Positive comment: I want to give a shout out to my door decoration group they were an amazing group to work with. Everyone did their part, communicated well and turned an event we were not really looking forward to into something enjoyable. We sufficiently worked while listening to Christmas music and talking. It was a good bonding experience.
One change: I want to make this change personal. I feel the need to be more involved with events that are not directly related to me or my poststion. Taking on roles when asked of me, I loved being able to help the freshman with a warm and fuzzy week. I also need to be more organized at least with upcoming events or duties. Like I had no idea about having to help serve hot chocolate which made me realize I need to stay more up to date.
My impact: Though it added a lot more stress into my daily life I loved being able to take leadership roles in the program and at school. For example helping with Natsuco, and working on the presentation for Mr. Rangle. Also being the group leader for door decoration, I felt like I knew what was going on and my group was great. Aside from leadership I also took the role of advisory door leader for my class. Taking on these roles kept me busy but also gave me motivation. It was also a way for me to be more involved and help my class.
January asb report
Abby Campos ASB Administrative coordinator January 31, 2023
Positions: We have been working on questions we can ask during the interview. We started off with a large number of questions and discussed which were best and narrowed it down. We started figuring out the presentation, who will be partnered together and which school to go to. During winterfest the entire class helped with decorating the big posters on the bleachers. I think they turned out so nice it was really cool to look at. Though I will say not many people were able to see the design because the bleachers were filled up quickly. I had to catch up on some paperwork with davina. I was absent a few days and coming back from break meant a lot of paperwork to be signed. The entire class helped to clean up after each rally. The winter fest candidate rally and then the lip sync night rally. I’ve also been working on the presentations I have to give in class which are the elder project and the speech. We have to go to a monthly superintendent meeting. During this meeting we talked about leadership and highschool with the presidents and vp’s of elementary schools. There are a few students that are interested.
Standing: This month I am part of the elections committee meaning those on the interview panel started working on questions we can ask during the interview. We discussed and commented on different potential questions and narrowed down the ones we thought were best.
Special: This month I was part of the 8th grade recruitment committee and we came up with a list of what we can include during. We still are working out a day to go to the schools
Mentorship: This month Emme and I helped each other a lot with leadership work. We worked on updating our website together and just spent more time together in class. Then we went to Isabel's for lunch. This was a fun experience. We decided to vlog our experience but then we realized that the mic was muted the entire time so you can’t even hear us. We talked about how we want to leave the legacy of bringing positivity and being a good role model.
Concerns: A concern I have are the relationships in this class after elections. I just hope nothing becomes awkward and everyone is civil about how they turn out. I already know a few issues that might arise so i just hope it works itself out.
Positive comment: I wanna give a positive comment to all the classes for all the hard work during winterfest , it was clear and shown through what they presented. I also want to give a special shout out to the senior officers who put it all together. They are some pretty incredible individuals .
One change: This isn’t anything we need to change but a good thing to add. This is just something Emme and I came up with but when we go to lunch for our mentor assignment we vlog it and talk or ask question. It just adds a fun component to mentorship.
My impact: Trying to help wherever it is needed. Both inside and outside of leadership. I've also been helping people with the application process for leadership. I've been Giving some tips and advice on what one should and should not do. Especially with the younger students, being able to count on upperclassmen for help is relieving and nice.
THe challenge ASB Report
Abby Campos ASB adminstrative coordinator March 3, 2023 1. What committee(s) have you been placed on, explain to them, what is your role?
The committees that i was a part of were gift to teachers, gift to community, gift to students, For the gift to students I helped with the dance decorations and planning lunch time activities. For the dance we decided to go with the name summer kick off and it would be carnival themed, so that was what we based the decorations on. I also was in charge of contacting and filling PO for DJ. For the lunch time activity we decided on the balloon game, along with playing music and giving out extra raffle tickets for those who show up. For the gift to the community, we received a list of the number of eighth graders from each elementary school. We divided that number among 40 so we all have to write 7 letters for eighth graders. For the gift to teachers I chose one teacher to write my page long letter.
2. What did you contribute during the week to the committee work and presentation for next week?
Going off of the commitees for the ift to students my main focus was the DJ. I called a few times to confirm we have them booked. If that doesn’t go through then i have found a different DJ that can play. I also have to fill out the PO for DJ once we have one set. I also started signing other PO’s early that way they already have them sign from me and the process can go quicker.
3. What will you be in charge of the week of the challenge?
The main thing that I was out in charge of are my own letters for staff and then for the eight graders which have already been completed. Also find the DJ, which i have been trying to contact and confirm with. It has been a journey trying to get a hold of sounds and motion so we also have a back up plan.
4. What are some pros that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items?
Something that I liked was that everyone was trying to work on something, and knew what was going on within their committee. It did not seem like only one person was doing work, but rather that everyone was putting in their input. Everyone also seems really excited about planning these events, which makes it run smoother and enjoyable to work.
5. What are some cons that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items?
There were a lot of things that had to get done aside from planning a whole event. It was stressful trying to balance all leadership work and school work, I had to spend my days focusing on getting all my work done. Another thing was that outside resources were not responding so we couldn’t confirm certain things. For example Rangel on various confrimation or questions we had and then Sounds and motions confirming our DJ.
6. What will you be speaking about in the formal presentation?
During the formal presentation I will be giving information on the DJ. What i will be explaining will be that i have tried contacting sounds and motions, i've called over 4 times and left voicemails and still no reply. I have another DJ in mind, which I will be talking to on Friday after school. So i can not explain how that will go just yet but i should know by the time i give the presentation.
7. What is your overall opinion of the event idea?
I love the idea, i think it is a bit different then the usual theme. Since it is the end of the year and summer will be beginning, I think it is a cute theme and r name. I also love how we will be having booths and games and involving the clubs, as well as re using the lemonade stands. Also we have approved the food truck, which is all something new. I think we needed a change and this is something different that makes people very excited.
8. Do you believe this class will be successful in planning and executing this event?
Yes, I think everyone has made it a goal to make sure this event is successful, I have seen everyone working extremely hard. We are asking questions, helping one another out and keeping each other accountable. We are trying to work well together, communicate and figure out when things are getting done. I have had a good amount of time to get my work done, while knowing that the challenge was on the go.
9. What should be done to peers in the class that do not fulfill their jobs?
I think most people were truly working and trying to ensure that this event was a success and prove that we were able to take on the challenge. For those who have not stepped up they should be marked down on evals and receive a hard conversation with ASB president and Morty about their work ethic and how improvement needs to be made. CALL THEM OUT.
10. What is your favorite aspect of this event? What are you most excited for?
I think seeing everyone take on a lead especially those who don't usually ws my favorite part. It is cool to see people step it up and hear all the creative ideas we have. Also just working together to plan an event and make sure it is successful, it has been good bonding. As well as the fact that we are adding new components to this event that will make it all the better. Which makes me extremely excited to see the outcome.
APril and MAY ASB REPORT
Abby Campos Asb administrative coordinator May 8, 2022
Position assessment : I had my regular meet up with Davina these last few weeks to sign and approve purchase orders. As we were trying to find a DJ for the end of the year dance, we came across some issues in the beginning . However, we tackled the issues head-on and resolved everything before the deadline. Davina also provided me with the class budget which I posted on Google Classroom. I was able to take the ASB minutes and update everything on Google Classroom. Additionally, I wrote down the pros and cons of dodgeball, and the pros and cons of the Gallery of the Arts for further review.
Standing committee: I was not part of a standing committee this month Special committee: I was part of the end of the year dance committee, we looked for different decorations and ordered them. I also was in charge of finding a DJ like I had mentioned earlier. At first sounds and motions did not respond so I found another dj who was more than willing to dj for us. I got the contract signed and approved. We gave him a playlist and everything is good to go. Mentorship Evaluation : Emme and I went to a coffee house for lunch. We talked about my plans next year and any questions she had for sophomore year. We also called each other when we had any questions or concerns. I’m going to miss being her mentor. She is such a bright girl.
Concerns: This one is personal. Lately, I have been very busy and feel like I haven't been able to finish my work on time. I'm concerned that I will fall behind or won't have enough time to complete my assignments for this class. I'm also feeling stressed out and finding it difficult to make time for myself. I worry that if I don't prioritize self-care, I may become overwhelmed and unable to keep up. Positive Comment: It was wonderful to see everyone working so efficiently and to complete the challenge ahead of schedule. Through hard work and dedication, we've proven our skills and planned a successful event. Seeing everyone come together with such a sense of determination was amazing to see. We should all take a moment to be proud of ourselves and each other for a job well done.
One Change: I think for next year it would be good to have the end of the year assignments spreaded out. We have so much to do in such a small amount of time. I do understand that we should learn responsibility and we should learn to make time but it has been extremely stressful. My Impact: During these last few months of school, my goal has been to reach out to as many people as possible and make a positive impact on their day. I aspire to be remembered as a person who treated others with kindness and a willingness to lend a helping hand.
