Abby Campos ASB administrative coordinator 2 September 2021
Position assessment: ASB and seniors had a meeting about 2 weeks ago where we discussed the dance which I had to take minutes for. I also had to get things done on the facilitative form and purchase orders and help with decoration which I will talk more about in the committee component. I've had to meet with the bookkeeper: I was a bit nervous about this part of my job as it was a different bookkeeper but Davina has been great and helpful. The first day I was able to go through and catch up on all my summer work and then I've been trying to go every day to sign any purchase orders. I also had to sell tickets for the dance. The first day I was supposed to sell tickets but wasn't at school but I also sold on club rush. We sold a good amount of tickets. It was one of the busier days which is what we expected. Worked on my intent. Lydia and I sold the bracelets on Friday. We weren't sure what happened to the poster from Thursday so we had to improvise and make a new one quickly. I created the master contact where we have birthday, email, and phone number. It could be found on google classroom if you need to contact someone but don't have their information. I created the sign-up for announcements, board meetings, and also water donations. I made a doc for both board meetings and announcements and then also made a form to keep track of who can donate water for the dance
Special committee: I was part of the back-to-school dance decoration special committee. Kylie, Emma and I were in charge of the decoration for the dance. We did have a couple of challenges. One was not trying to spend too much money and second, we didn't have a set location so we had to keep changing decorations but we picked general decorations where it would work in most locations. We also went to the football field to figure out where we could put decorations
Standing committee: I have not been part of a standing committee at this point.
Mentorship: We haven't hung out because we both have very busy schedules but we have plans to get lunch next week. We also have been texting each other and keeping each other updated on all things leadership. We asked each other for help. We also sat next to each other in class and helped each other with the websites.
Concerns: My concern is about the DJ for the dance. I think for the most part everything on the dance is good supposing nothing else changes. I just hope we can find another DJ who does not charge too much. Also, other events getting canceled or other students being quarantined.
Positive comment: I think this year as in work ethic and teamwork we are doing amazing. Shout out to freshmen for going all out at pow wow I can see their year going amazing already. Anyone who's been helping with the dance has also been on top of things. We planned an entire dance in a week and a half. Avery was great at planning for this dance and making sure things were getting done.
Once changed: Honestly so far this year I think things in the leadership program are going well aside from any problems the air quality or covid bring. One thing I would change would be the lack of help people give or the amount of work certain people are doing. Those who have something assigned specifically to their role have been doing great. Then some don't have much to do because it's not part of their job description but haven't been trying to ask if help is needed.
My impact: I've been trying to help the most I can with anything so far I've been focusing on helping Avery with anything dance-related. I've been trying to reach out to other students and create a better friendship with everyone. I've also been trying to make sure that any of the new students feel welcomed and included because I know the stress of being new to this program.
September & october Asb report
Abby Campos ASB administrative coordinator 2 September 2021
Position assessment: For September I did many things for homecoming. The first was to take minutes before the event to have a layout. We picked out our theme, decoration idea, and competition. I also watched over other cases and their admin's minutes and procedure form paperwork. I filled out some PO’s that were needed for decorations; turned in any work that Morty or ASB needed to be turned in. I also helped with the homecoming floats for the junior class. I took part in the coronation committee which I will explain further in the special committee section. On the last day of homecoming, Lydia and I were in charge of the front of the school decoration along with the football field decoration. The entire class helped but we came up with an outline so we knew what we were doing that day. After homecoming, I took pros and cons notes to keep as a reference. I also worked daily with Davina and filled out paperwork.
Special committee: The special committee I was a part of during September was the coronation committee. We had meetings and I attended. We were planning for some things before the event. I helped during the candidate reveal rally holding signs and guiding people to the correct spot. During the king and queen reveal, I handed out the box to one of the candidates. I also helped set up and clean up in various homecoming coronations events.
Standing: I have not been part of a standing committee this month
Mentorship: My mentor buddy is Katie. We have been texting each other and keeping each other updated on all things leadership. We also asked each other for help and advice on anything that we needed. I’ve been to some of her volleyball games to go support and cheer her on.
Concern: There are those in the class who are trying to know everyone in the program . Interacting or helping others. Then there are a couple of people who just don’t make the same effort. I know it is harder for some people (one of those being me) but some are just in the same class clicks and don't feel the need to make an effort to talk to others, especially talking to those who struggle to interact.
Positive: Over the last couple of months I feel like the majority of the class began connecting with most people in the program. People make an effort to talk to others outside of their class. Even during the competition the classes are helping and supporting one another. Classes also stepped it up during homecoming and got things done.
Change: I think the classes overall did a good job facilitating homecoming considering we had about two weeks to plan. I just feel that we need to be more organized and get started on things earlier. We do end up having successful events but at times it is stressful since we didn't have an exact plan or enough time.
My impact: I would say this year I've definitely stepped out of my comfort zone and began talking to many more people. I've become friends with many of the underclassmen. We go out to lunch and I just give them advice. I've always been staying on top of things, getting everything asked of me as soon as possible;this also allows me to help more people. Since I get my things done I have more time to help others in whatever they need. I've been getting involved and joining clubs and taking on leadership positions in them.
November and December ASb report
Abby Campos ASB administrative coordinator 6 December 2021
Position assessment: Every year the class writes cards to soldiers or veterans. During the holidays especially is when appreciation for their service should be expressed. Each one of us wrote 5 military cards. The junior class was in charge of dude be nice week. First, we came up with all of the days and the gives during that week. We also came up with our dudette. I helped count leaves and made sure every student had one. The entire class and other clubs joined in on the revel.I’ve taken minutes of every asb meeting. Turned them all in before the 48 hours and shared the minutes to the class. I've been working with Davina every day, filling out paperwork, checking class budgets, keeping track of money and reimbursements. I went to a board meeting, took notes, and completed my summary. I was also a casl group leader. We had group one which was our intention. We talked about what we were writing and created bullet points/ short sentences about what to write. Then each person had 1-2 topics and had to write the paragraphs. We later went to proofread and edit together.
Special committee: I was part of the door decorating committee. We decorated doors for teachers and staff. We did this by covering the doors with Christmas wrapping paper and placing a bow. I also was supposed to be part of the chalk committee but we ended up not doing it.
Standing: I have not been part of a standing committee this month
Mentorship: Katie and I have been texting each other checking up making sure everything is good. We have been creating a much better bond and finding things we have in common such as playing volleyball. We have been thinking about going to play but the weather has not been the best, so we haven’t had the opportunity. We went out to lunch and had pretty good discussions about leadership and outside curriculares. We were also paired up for the door decorations so we got to spend more time together and work together.
Concern: I think the attitude towards each other can sometimes be concerning. I feel like at times we tend to turn on each other or get frustrated with one another when working under stress. That is something that needs to be worked on. To instead use teamwork and make improvements instead of turning on each other or blaming/discrediting one another.
Positive: I would have to say a positive is the amount of work we have been doing in such a short amount of time. Last year was not as crazy and now it feels like the events are coming together and there is so much to do. We have succeeded in many of the events, back-to-back events. It is impressive how well everyone has adapted. I want to also shout out the sophomore class for all they have done. Winterforml, warm and fuzzy week and winter fest all at the same time was a lot but they did it.
Change: I think it’s time we add or change some of the things we do for new events. Like right now it’s that time since we are changing things anyway due to COVID. For some of the things we do now, I feel like we can come up with something better. For example, instead of wrapping doors, we can make a teacher/ staff their own decorated wreath.
My impact: These last couple of months I’ve been working on building friendships, not just with the class but students from school. Especially those who I see are quieter or don’t talk to many people. I’ve been trying to help wherever help is needed. Also answering any concerns/questions. I have been keeping better track of my work and making myself available so that if anyone is confused or has questions I’m free. Also, by creating an overall positive environment.
January & February ASB Report
Abby Campos ASB Administrative Coordinator 2/10/22 Position assessment: This coming has been calmer on the planning aspect and what I have to do in a position but I still feel like it’s been one of the busiest with work. I Tried to help with Winterfest. I did the usual working with Davina, filling out some paperwork. Got Cash box orders, counted the profit we made from selling bracelets. Took Minutes for the encore burritos, 8th-grade day lunches. Valentine's day cards and leadership interview lunches. I've been working on elections such as applications and speeches. I've also written some valentine's day cards. I published the article for the blank. Along with the leadership class, I helped pack meals for people in need of food.
Standing committee: For the month of January I was not part of a standing committee. By the next meeting I hope to have been part of one.
special committee : This month i was not a part of the special committee as mentioned in the standing committee, I do hope to be more involved and volunteer to be in one if a chance comes up. Although I am not sure if this is a committee, I helped decorate the gym for basketball games.
Mentorship: Two weeks ago Katie and I went to Edes during lunch. We walked together after class. There as we waited for our food we talked about school and leadership. The chaos of January. We had a pretty good time and we are planning to go to lunch sometime soon again.
Concern: My concern is only with myself and the business these next few months. I've been stressed and overworked. I have so much to do with such little time. I just hope I can get everything done and done well. I'm also worried that other students might be feeling this way. I think I need to stay on top of it and be more organized. To Take time to focus on what needs to get done.
Positive comment: Like I've mentioned in the concerned area everything has been chaotic. I've been so busy these last couple of weeks. I've also been trying to give myself time myself and it gets difficult with all the work I have to do. I'm sure many people in the class are also feeling this but yet everyone has been keeping up with their work and planning events smoothly. For the most part, everyone is keeping a positive mindset.
One change: I would say figure out a way to make certain weeks less stressful or like some calm days to focus on ourselves instead of just a lot of workload. I really like that we used to have days where for 15 minutes in class we would meditate or listen to piano music to give time to relax and relieve stress. My impact: I’ve been trying to help others in the school but especially the underclassmen as much as I can. This time of year especially can get stressful and I want to be there for them. Whether it be to help them study, with homework and simply just some advice they can come up to me. I've also tried connecting with the new students from this semester. It is scary enough to come to a new school but when you start later it’s even worse. Everyone Has their clicks and finding someone can be difficult, I've tried being as inclusive as I can and even inviting them to lunch. I check up on a lot of people, mostly from this class to see how they are doing. Give them some words of encouragement if they seem to be struggling.
February & MArch ASB Report
Abby Campos ASB administrative coordinator April 15th 2022 Position assessment : For the month of March I took minutes for various meetings. ASB meetings and when planning for events. I also worked with Davina. We got all that we needed to get signed done. There has been a lot of paperwork since we are towards the end of the year. I also worked on the challenge, more specifically working on the classified staff part. We decided to do succulents for the staff, and thank you cards. For kitchen staff we are putting up balloons in their area. We called ACE. We will receive the succulents a couple days before we need them. I went to two board meetings since the last meeting. I've put up some posters mostly for prom. I helped clean up during dodgeball a couple of times which was much easier than I thought. We are going to start planning for the ASB banquet, thinking about decorations and food.
Standing Committee: For the Month of February and march i was not part of a Standing committee Special Committee: For the challenge i am part of the classified staff committee, we came up with the idea of the gift and have the PO filled out.Now We are waiting for the date to come for us to actually get the items. I will also be part of the college level committee.
Mentorship Evaluation - Over the last month Katie and I went out twice for lunch. We went to Isabels and Coffee House. We have also been helping each other both in class and outside of classwork. We text to check up on each other every now and then.
Concerns:My biggest concern at the moment is that it is the end of the year and there is a lot to do with such little time. These next few weeks will be extremely stressful. We need to stay organized and communicate with one another to assure things are being done.If we don't these next events will be much more difficult.
Positive Comment: I love seeing how much work everyone is putting in. You can see how much effort is put into all that we do while trying to maintain a positive outlook on what is to come.We are not letting stress get in the way of all that we are planning. This year we adapted and went with the flow and everything turned well.
One Change: Be more organized on everything that had to get done. Figure out ways to be able to communicate better to know what is happening when. Similar to the doc made with all the end of the year events. Maybe making one of those at the beginning of each month. People can add their own things to the doc like the events classes are planning. My Impact: This month I really was focusing on trying to gain motivation again. While doing so I began trying to keep a positive mentality and encouraging others to do the same. I’ve been helping tutor some students in my classes. Inviting students I see alone to come join my group. Thanking my teachers and staff for all that they do.
May Asb report
Name: Abby Campos Position: ASB Administrative coordinator Date: May 16th, 2022 Position assessment:We finished the last part of the moc interview. We had been preparing months before by creating a resume and cover letter. We set up our portfolio correctly by adding the google form and questions. I enjoyed the interview, it was a good opportunity for me to learn about my future career. Planned. Resume and cover letter. ASB planned the banquet. We met up once to get a run down. We ordered food that was necessary along with the awards. ASB split the writing for each award. Unfortunately, the day of it was sick so I could not help but heard it was good. I made cards for Love Ripon beforehand. I wrote three cards to the officer. Here I talk about how grateful I am for their service. I helped prepare for the Modesto conference by packing bags and cutting paper. It was a lot of work but the leadership class put a helping hand. I personally loved the conference and the speakers. They all genuinely cared about what they were talking about and teaching students made the event enjoyable. For the challenge, Lydia and I were in charge of the classified staff day. We bought succulents and thank you cards to put into staff boxes. For the cafeteria staff, we set up balloons in the back office. We came early in the day to set everything up and all went well.
Standing Committee: For this month I was not part of a standing committee. I hope next year I can be a part of one. I think we should create more of them. It would be helpful when running events. Special committee:In May I was part of the tribe awards committee and what we had to do was help set up and clean up. I also was part of the classified staff committee for the challenge, we gave out succulents, thank you cards, and balloons. Mentorship Evaluation: For May Katie and I went out once. We decided to get Pizza plus about a week ago. We also message each other when we need help or even just to check up on one another to make sure everything is going well. I loved getting the opportunity to mentor Katie, especially giving each other updates on what was going on in each other's lives. Concerns:Since it is the end of the year I feel like we have begun to lack motivation. There has been a struggle with communication. Things are still being done but fixing miscommunication issues can make things easier for us if.
Positive comment:We made it to the end of the year! Coming in I was unsure of what I was expecting for this school year. I was nervous about how things were going to work. I had many concerns about how events would be run and student participation but it all worked out. Events were successful and students showed spirit. Even if events were modified and changed, students still enjoyed them. I'm proud of our leadership program this year and all we have accomplished.
One change:I want to find a way that will help us have better Communication. Maybe like a leadership online calendar where we all can edit it. So that way we all know what is coming up. Also, Create daily reminders before the beginning of class. For example, if a social media post is due then tell the class, or if something needs to be set up then remind the class of the times. I think this is something we can talk about before the new school year begins.
My Impact: This year I tried focusing on spreading positivity, meeting new people, and making new friends. While doing so I was also able to help others and get out of my comfort zone. I took on many volunteering projects, Tutored, and coached. Over the last month, I've continued to focus on these priorities and goals that I've set for myself. I supported school events including leadership, club, and sports events. I showed school pride and spirit and I encouraged participation.
