AUGUST ASB REPORT Name Abigail Campos Position Freshman Representative Date 09/04/19 Position assessment We started this year with Core camp. All the Freshman Representative went. There we met with other leadership students from different schools. Most of the time we spent time in a class with other freshmen Reps or someone with a similar position. In this class we were asked to write down any questions we had about being a leader or just about succeeding, such as how do we manage time or how do we stay positive, throughout the week we would have chances to answer the question then on the last day we would go back and look at our responses. That was just one of the things we did in the class another was planning a gift to camp. We choose to hand out awards, we gave out silly gifts like, stickers, soap, socks, bananas. There were 3 individual award and one award for the school, Ripon got the most united for this award we made a huge poster which we hung up in the front on the first day of school. We then had pow wow, it went pretty well. We met up a couple days before to make posters and made a google doc for the shifts, we all worked an equal amount of time. We sold lots of shirts and got them ordered as soon as we could but there was a small misunderstanding when it came to the sizes other than that pow wow was good. After pow wow we had club rush and the BBQ. We had a social media assignment where we had to post the dress up days all the freshmen reps posted it. We also worked ships for the t-shirt sales. At the BBQ we got out of class early and helped set up some of us were working at the t-shirt sale table well others were serving food. There was a lot of people in line but everyone was working fast so it ran smoothly. The freshmen had to wash the dishes which we got done pretty fast and it wasn’t bad. We also had the dance we came early to decorate and stayed after to clean up. Standing committee I am not part of a standing committee yet but I plan on helping any group that needs extra help Special Committee The black light committee was great. We got to leave third and fourth period to help set up, like put up balloons, put neon tape everywhere, set up the black lights etc. We got all of it done and were prepared, Natalie did a great job organizing it. The games played in the rally were fun even if you didn't participate it was enjoyable to watch and most people said they liked it. Concern During the BBQ it did become a bit chaotic because there were only two stations and so many people in line. So people had less time to eat and sign up for clubs. Positive Comment So far everything has been going pretty well, everyone seems to be getting their work done and helping out. Cassidy and Kate did a good job getting everything prepared for the BBQ and got enough volunteers. Natalie got everything she had to get done to make the rally great like the music, decorations and the black lights she had jobs ready for everyone. Overall everyone in the leadership class has been putting in effort to help out on what they can and have been helpful when someone is confused on what we are doing. Change Everything is going pretty good we are all getting along but I feel like everyone is still in their groups and haven't gotten the chance to actually connect with other people. My Impact I haven't gotten the chance to do a lot, but this year I want to have a positive impact so far i've been helping out with what I can like when carmen needed people to help make posters as well as encouraging other students to be more involved like during club rush.
SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER ASB REPORT Name: Abby Campos Position: Freshman representatives Date:10/23/19 Position assessment: During the month of September, we started working on homecoming, we had meetings with Perez( our freshmen advisor). The first meeting with Perez talked about decorations and what we were planning on doing on the float. We started meeting up every Saturday and sometimes other days so we can work on the float the first time working on it I wasn’t there but other freshmen reps say they couldn’t get much done because some of the people that showed up were just messing around, so the next time we decided to let them know that they actually had to work and if they weren’t planning on it to not bother coming. We then actually started working on the float and getting stuff done. We had another meeting with Perez and in this meeting, we discussed which song to pick for the lip sync we choose California dreaming. For class spirit overall I think the freshmen class did pretty well but we could’ve done better. The float didn’t turn out exactly as we hoped and our decoration wasn’t the greatest but I know we all put a lot of work into it not only the freshmen reps but other freshmen. We all put in the effort and we worked pretty well as a team and I think it was a great way for others to get to know each other. In October freshmen planned Halloween dance which was pretty stressful, I think I can say that for all the freshmen reps. We were confused about what we had to get done several times and we were doing some things last minute. Many helped decorate and clean up which was really nice. I think the dance actually ended up turning well I didn’t hear any negative feedback and everyone seemed to have a good time. Change: I think next year we need to work on homecoming sooner and actually have all the decorations and float figured out in advance and not just have the decorations and figure out how to decorate everything the day of. No procrastinating. Positive comment: Everyone is still getting along and trying to help each other with whatever we can. I can also see that all the freshmen reps are trying their hardest to do whatever they can. Even if they can’t make it to some things they are trying to get stuff done and asking for updates. I also feel like people are starting to make connections with others they haven’t really gotten to know Concerns: I’m really glad that everyone is trying to work hard but some have done a lot and are really stressed while others try to help them but they just want to get things done by themselves. It’s good they want to get things done but we should work as a team not just as an individual. My impact: I haven’t been doing as much as I hoped to but I’ve been trying to do as much as I can and I’m going to try and get more involved. I’m slowly getting to know people. I helped decorate the float, gym, field, and front of the school, most of the freshmen reps were in the lip-sync but I decided not to be in it not only because I didn’t have enough time to go to the practices since they were the same time as volleyball practice but we also needed someone to make sure that the freshmen class was spirited a respectful during the lip sync. I’ve also tried to stay positive and just have a good attitude. Standing committee: I couldn’t go to many senior night because volleyball was at the same time but I went to the volleyball one and I also made some posters. I probably will go to more winter senior nights. Special committee: For the tri-tip fundraiser I think we could’ve done a lot better working as a team and actually communicating with each other. I sold all my tickets and sold a couple of others of someone else in my group
NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER ASB REPORT Name: Abigail Campos Position: Freshmen representative Date: 12/16/19 Position assessment: During the month of November, we had dude be a nice week. We first started with choosing who the dude was. We all were able to choose a person who we thought fit the description of the dude and then have a final vote. On the day of the actual rally, I was not at school but I heard it went great. We also got to make signs for the yearbook rally for the senior superlatives. Even and I got “most likely to win an Olympic Medal, I did the rings he did the letters and we worked on it on one of the workdays. During the actual rally, we helped set up like put red cut out circles on the ground. We also worked on the casl document, my group talked about what other things we can add this year and that went well. For the slides, I was partnered with Cade. We had ” the freshman perspective” slide and we ended up not having enough time to present but I think we were prepared we were still a bit nervous but we did talk about what we were going to say before. The Monday we came back from Thanksgiving break I talked to Perez about the shopping cart and we got it that very same day. We also already had a meeting with Perez for the winter fest. For the night rally, we had the tree competition. We met up at cades house to paint it and we already had most of our decorations so that was good. The day of the night rally we met after school to have the tree ready for the rally. Also that same day in the morning we had the door decoration I think Bryan did a great job leading. We met up on Sunday so we would have everything done by Wednesday. Like the paper cut out and have everything the right sizes. We all worked together, I feel like we were a good team. change: For the yearbook rally next year if the decision to put the red circles on the ground again, I think they should move toward the court so they don’t get stepped on. Before the rally many were ripped and destroyed and we had to make sure people weren’t stepping on them. Also, think of better ways to have the door decoration stay on. Positive comment:I feel like now that it’s been a couple of months since school started i’ve actually started to make a great friendship within the class. Everyone is always so helpful. Also, I’ve been happy with groups or partnership that I’ve been with because we’ve actually known how to work well as a team. Concern: I still think some people still tend to take over and don’t really let others help. Although it’s good they want to get things done they should still let others help so they don't end up doing the work all by themselves, after all, we are a class and we should all help and work together. My impact: Since the last report I think I still haven’t done a lot but I do think I’ve created close bonds. I’m starting to communicate a lot better with everyone in the class. I’ve been trying to help out with whatever I can. I talked to Perez and save mart and got the shopping cart and helped paint the Christmas tree as well as decorate it. I also set up another meeting with Perez for winter formal. Also every time there is a school event I try to encourage other to come. Special Committee: I wasn't part of a special committee these last two months. I do help when ever I can but I haven't been part of a specific special committee Standing Committee: During the month of November and December I also was not part of any standing committee but hopefully I will be by the next ASB meeting.
JANUARY ASB REPORT Name: Abigail Campos Position: Freshmen representative Date: 1/13/2020 Position assessment: During the month of January we had winter fest. We got most of our work done in December. Such as decorations and shopping carts. I helped fill out the procedure form for the decorations. These include the window, gym and shopping cart decorations. I also went to save mart and asked to borrow the shopping cart and just dealt with everything that had to get done with the shopping cart, the letter and picking it up, taking it where it needs to be. The freshmen class met up during the week to decorate our shopping cart. We met up at Jaydin’s house. Gabbi, Jaydin and I made some posters and Kade and Cade helped us decorate it. We put some posters on the side of the cart and had a basketball hoop on top. We put basketballs on the sides. We also worked on the gym decorations. We came earlier for school and hung some posters and streamers. We also hung up a bugs bunny from the basketball hoop. Then on Sunday, we all met up to work on the window decorations. We put up a huge poster on the window put, some basketballs and stars on the side. This event I believe the freshmen class stepped up their game. They did a lot better than during homecoming and we definitely worked more as a team. We all did certain things and we didn’t procrastinate too much . The freshmen class was also in charge of mathematics. We made a social media post. During the week of January 21-24 we let the survey out and then during the week of February 10-14 we sold them. Two different people from the freshmen class worked the days. I also helped set up and clean up at the talent show. Hanging up decorations. Change: Although we have been doing a lot better at not procrastinating I feel like we get all the basics done but we don’t think through everything. Like there are little things the freshmen class can do that will make everything a lot easier. Such as communicating better at what is exactly getting done and what needs to get done. Going over plans and making sure we have everything figured out so we aren’t stressing about last-minute things we didn’t find much importance in. We also wanted to find decorations we can use in the future and not just buy decoration we can only use once. So we don’t have to buy completely new decorations for each event. Positive comment: I think, well at least for the freshmen officers we have been doing a lot better at communicating. There are some things that we still need to work on but recently we have been talking a lot more in the group chat. Even in person, we go up to each other during class which might be easier than texting because you actually get to talk about things a lot better than through text. We don’t only talk about what we have done but also what needs to get done and who is getting that done. We have been feeling a lot more comfortable with checking on each other and just making sure things are getting done. Special committee: The special committee I'm in is the valentine crew committee. My partner is Gianna W. we got our hearts and split them so we each had 25 hearts. We both had them cut out before Christmas break ended. We kept in touch to see which ones need to get done. Who was doing what? We had most of our hearts done written with messages around the end of the winter fest. My impact: I think I’m starting to do a lot more than I had been doing at the beginning of the school year. Like I’ve said the freshmen officers have been communicating a lot better. Due to this, we are getting work done a lot more efficiently and we each have specific jobs. We make a list of who’s doing what. I did a couple of things during the winter fest. I took care of everything that had to get done with the shopping cart, this means making the letter and picking it up making sure it gets back in good condition. Also did the PO for winter fest. I myself have definitely been communicating with everyone. Normally it’s asking if things are getting done or if any help is needed or if we need someone to get something done. I ask both on the group chat and individually. I ask on the group chat so everyone also is informed of what is getting asked. Positive comment: Like I have mentioned many times. There is a lot of communication that is happening. Most of it is about leadership and what has to get done or what already has been done and just the usual stuff when planning events but also outside of that. I think we all have been getting along better. Even when Morty says to move out of our seats I don’t think it’s that I can’t sit to someone I’m comfortable with that makes me not want to move but it’s the I don’t feel like getting up. Anyone I sit by at the point in time I’m actually fine with because I have taken the time to meet everyone and I get along with most. Concern: A concern I have is that it is closer to the end of the year. So I have to start focusing on all the end of the school year things. So that’s going to be taking a lot of my time. Also compared to last months when I said some were people taking over, I feel like we are getting better with equally distributing jobs which is really good. Standing committee : During the month of January, I was not a part of any standing committee. I wasn’t well informed about any in the month of January that I can do. I will try and be better informed for the upcoming months
